If you met my client you would say she is so put together, polished, warm, chic, welcoming … and then you see her master bedroom! Blah and boring are the best way to describe it. She is so dedicated to her job, busy with her gorgeous children and spending family time with her husband and relatives … she has left her own spaces unfinished.
Finally, she decided she deserved a treat, and so did we! She shared an inspirational photo and that was our jumping off point. Glam lighting, unique wall treatments, heavy textures, and moody wall art. Her wish was for a soft cozy place to land after a long and hectic day.
An after-thought was to add creative lighting to the room. With LED strips embedded on the side of her custom geometric wall design, we lit the room up with interest.
Unusual to most scenarios, my client did not have anything specific in mind … she simply wanted something special, she said. She told me she had been following me for years and hoped that one day she would be able to hire me. She had felt that she knew my style and trusted me to put together her design completely! The inspirational photo that she had been carrying around was romantic yet modern … dim lights, dark paint with shiny objects throughout. Yet, it was sophisticated with rich fabrics and gorgeous art. From that, off we went! We sourced velvet bedding, a down filled swivel chair, contemporary sphere chandeliers and glitter art. We painted the room in a rich charcoal, almost black, added a custom geometric wall treatment and balanced the room with LED bar lighting from floor to ceiling. Yes, she GASPED at the reveal and said, “you blew my mind!”
Now, here are some of the design challenges along the way.
The ambiance has many levels and she is enjoying each one!
What Did We Like Most
The freedom to play with color was exhilarating in this space. The dark charcoal, almost black backdrop to this bombshell of a bedroom made it easy on the eye.
